The Wind Storm in June Really Blew Us Away…

And we need to get folks to help clear it up. Please contact Terry Toomey to see what you can do to help. There will be scheduled cleanups soon, please watch the Webpage for announcements. We have so many tree’s down, the pistol range is all but unusable at this moment and there is a serious danger in many other places from falling pieces just stuck up there waiting…

The Annual Advertisers Drive is on…

If your favorite business is not a current advertiser, please tell them of our ability to get their name out there. For the paltry sum of $35 they get an ad in our newsletter and on our webpage. If they have a web link of their own, it can be placed on our webpage too, same price. Have them contact Ernie or any of the officers so an ad can be made up and posted. And please remember to thank our current advertisers when you do business with them so they know we appreciate them.

The Hunters for the Hungry Program

Raffle tickets are coming out soon. Dick Leggett and others have them. Please support this worthy cause as a great many local families benefit from your generosity. The program donated a ‘ton’ of meat last season and has been steadily growing each year. If you are aware of a meat processor willing to participate, please refer them to Dick so they can get qualified. And please buy a ticket or two if they come across your radar screen.

The Columbia County Fair

Is almost upon us and we will be sending out raffle tickets soon. Please support the club by buying the tickets and then reselling if that’s your wish. We hope to either get money OR the tickets back from each member as it costs a lot to print them just to throw them away.

Welcome to Two New Members!

Cynthia Tunis of Chatham and James Zanett of Valatie. Welcome to the club and we look forward to seeing you enjoy the facilities. Remember, Sunday is a great day to come and visit as the Trap range is open and that group of folks would be happy to show you around.

Politics Can Be Such a Drag…

I’m forced to comment on something I’ve been seeing and hearing. It bothers me to see bumper stickers saying “Anybody But Bush”. Now Don’t think for a second I’m going to suggest who to vote for, my whole point is this: if you have a reasoned approach and have made an informed decision that’s cool, but to just say ‘anybody but…’ is a serious insult to the process and to this great country.

We will always disagree; as well we should because that’s the nature of politics. But have an actual opinion or position, make a choice and vote your conscious. Please don’t vote out of malice or to punish anyone. Look at the issues and vote for those that best support your positions. Of course I find it hard to believe those bumper stickers imply a reasoned decision. No matter who it is, to say you would rather have ‘anybody else’ doing the job belittles the Office and thusly our Country. We have such huge issues facing us that the elections this fall will have a great impact on the entire world.

One last thing and it’s very important. I believe America will be attacked somewhere between 25 October and 3 November with the express purpose of influencing the elections, exactly as it happened in Spain. We have to make a rock-solid decision right now that when it happens, we won’t allow it to be a factor in how we vote. If we do allow it to change our course, we are doomed to failure and the terrorists will be emboldened beyond measure.

This Months Political Support Request is for:

Assemblyman Pat Manning

Pat Manning has been so important to the sportsmen and women in his district I can hardly find the words. His experience and intestinal fortitude make him an asset second to none. I’m at a loss to say more because well frankly, I almost don’t have to ask him his position on legislative issues as they pertain to this issue because his voting record stands as a shining example to all.

Please support Pat Manning this fall with your money, your time and your vote. In our day-to-day conversations, speak up when his name is mentioned and voice your support. He can be reached at:

A Little Humor…

I hope that when insects take over the world, they will remember with gratitude how I took them along on my picnics.

Broken promises don’t upset me. I just think, why did they believe me in the first place?

Founding Fathers Corner, an extract from the NY State Constitution:

“XL. And whereas it is of the utmost importance to the safety of every State that it should always be in a condition of defence; and it is the duty of every man who enjoys the protection of society to be prepared and willing to defend it; this convention therefore, in the name and by the authority of the good people of this State, doth ordain, determine, and declare that the militia of this State, at all times hereafter, as well in peace as in war, shall be armed and disciplined, and in readiness for service…”

And From The Federalist Papers:

“Who are the militia? They consist now of the whole people, except a few public officers.

An instance within the memory of some of this House, will show us how our militia may be destroyed. Forty years ago, when the resolution of enslaving America was formed in Great Britain, the British Parliament was advised by an artful man [Sir William Keith], who was the governor of Pennsylvania, to disarm the people; that was the most effectual way to enslave them; but they should not do it openly; but to weaken them, and let them sink gradually, by totally disusing and neglecting the militia.”

~George Mason, Vol., 3 at 380 and 425.

Sound familiar? Do it slowly, behind our backs, soon no one will see the need for the militia or for the ‘right to bear arms’, like frogs in a frying pan…
